Why Local Matters

Junebar is a locally focused company. But what does that actually mean?

We source as many ingredients as possible from New York and neighboring states. When we have to buy ingredients outside the region (dates, for example, don’t grow in the Northeast) we try to order them through local distributors.

But it goes deeper than that:

  1. Junebars are baked and packed in Rochester.
  2. Our warehousing and distribution are in Rochester.
  3. Our packaging comes from Buffalo.
  4. Our cardboard boxes come from Victor.
  5. Our materials are printed in Rochester.
  6. Everyone on our team lives in Western New York.

Why does it matter?

Shorter shipping routes means fewer emissions. Reduced freight loads mean less plastic wrap, fewer wood pallets, and fewer steel nails, all of which are often discarded after delivery.

When you spend money at your local food co-op, that money stays in your region and supports the people who live in your city.

The same is true when a business buys from other local businesses.

Spending our money in our region means our neighbors, and their businesses, prosper. Rather then send our dollars out across the country, or internationally, we keep them here.

Supporting local helps create a better New York for everyone.
